The Safety Health, Environment Quality and Loss Control Department (SHEQ &LC)is committed to achieving the highest possible standards of health, safety, environmental and quality management in the refinery. Our goal is to achieve zero injuries, zero property incidents and zero environmental incidents.
Our SHEQ &LC policy shows commitment towards health and safety of all employees, contractors and visitors, as well as sustainable quality and environmental management. We have established an integrated management system, that encompassed OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 14001:2004, and ISO 9001:2008 through the use of the International Sustainability Rating System (ISRS). The ISRS provides guidance for best practices in safe and sustainable operations.
Our safety performance was recognised with a level 6 certification of ISRS version 6.5 by DNV in 2013. We have since adopted ISRS version 8.0 implementation.
To ensure we fulfil our commitments to SHEQ we ensure that both internal and external audits and inspections are conducted regularly which enables identification of areas that require continuous improvement.

Safety is a major priority at Indeni due to the high risk of the product (hydrocarbons) that is handled.
Management has demonstrated its commitment to safety management through a joint Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and loss control policy.
The international Sustainability Rating System (ISRS) is the management system that ensures that all the business processes are managed through safe and sustainable operations. The business processes which enable the refinery to deliver goods and services also include activities which used give rise to safety and sustainability risks and opportunities. The ISRS systematically addresses these Safety, Health, Environment, Security, process safety and Quality systems requirements in the organization.
The ISRS has 15 processes which are built into a Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle as shown below;
